About Me
I am an expert for smart knowledge and educational technologies and affiliated with the Leiden Delft Erasmus Center for Education and Learning (LDE CEL). For many years I studies the underpinnings of integrating different technologies into coherent learning and working environments for richer insights and learning experiences for more than 20 years. My studies lead me often to technologies that are not very well established and understood, so I develop educational and organisational strategies as well as apps and tools for handling these technologies within the complexities that are common to many organisations.
I am an alumni of the Dutch Research School for Information and Knowledge Systems (SIKS), and a (former senior) member of the IAmLearn, EA-TEL and the ACM. Presently, I am the education chair of EA-TEL. I was the elected president of the Swiss Educational Technology Working Group (ETWG) for two years and chaired the Swiss Eduhub SIG Mobile Learning for 7 years and I am a member of many programme committees of international conference, such as mLearn, EC-TEL, ICCE, IEEE ICALT, or IEEE EDUCON. I contributed to international Ph.D. trainings on Technology-enhanced Learning by organising the TENCompetence Winterschools (2007-2009) and the JTEL Winter Schools (2010-2011) as well as lecturing at JTEL Summer-School (2014, 2018, 2019).
I was a professor for blended learning and inaugural director of the Blended Learning Center at HTW Chur (2015-2018). I worked as a Researcher at the ETH Zürich, Switzerland (2012-2015), the Open University in The Netherlands (2006-2012), the University of Innsbruck, Austria (2005-2006), and the Austrian Research Centers (2003-2005).
